Lifetime Warranties on DTF print heads
Written by Aaron Burton on October 3rd 2024
After specialist inks, one of the next biggest differentiators in Direct To Film (DTF) printing is end-unit production costs, but how do you get overheads down, keep your product quality up, and still make a profit?
We’ve been supporting the textile print industry for over a quarter of a century, and believe we have the answer. It’s all about making capital investment choices up front that give you full confidence in end-unit price points, knowing your overheads aren’t going to fluctuate.
KEEPING QUALITY UP, OVERHEADS DOWN.
Until now, lower production costs have been reason enough to get into DTF. Plus, the end quality for DTF products can be superb. There’s no pretreatment or weeding involved in the print process, and vivid ink options have opened up the creative possibilities, massively – it’s a winner for personalised clothing in particular. The DTF technology roadmap has been fast-paced, too, with those specialist inks we mentioned likely to be differentiators in the short term.
However, most of the DTF businesses we know, now tell us they can only be competitive by reducing their end-unit prices – cutting corners where they can, and waiting as long as possible to change their print heads.
Truth be told, there’s an argument that print heads don’t actually cost a lot, until you spot the missing dots. In fact, we know many businesses wait until they see a significant deterioration in dot density before swapping print heads out, but by then, it’s too late. When customers see a drop in quality, you see a drop in business.
IT’S TIME TO CUT COSTS, NOT CORNERS
We’ve listened to our customers, very very carefully. We won’t compromise on the quality of our DTF consumables – but we DO have total confidence already, in the reliability of our SABTEX range of DTF printers.
The next logical step for us, is to help bring regular overheads down in DTF by offering a lifetime warranty on all the print heads supplied with new SABTEX SD70 DTF printer range, subject to terms.
Replacement print head costs have always been a concern. We know customers do value savings that make a difference, and discerning print businesses that want growth – and profit – make choices about new print technology based on overheads, as well as features.
“Print heads don’t cost a lot until you spot the missing dots. Then it’s too late. Quality and reputation – ruined. That’s why a lifetime warranty WILL make a difference.”
By adding the ongoing cost of new print heads into the mix, we believe this lifetime warranty could change the way people assess a new DTF printer. We’re confident it will change the industry too, and we’re pragmatic: other suppliers will make the same promise, soon enough. So why are we doing this now? Well, we genuinely value our customers and the feedback we’ve been getting tells us this kind of profit-margin-support is needed today.
Our lifetime warranty applies to the print heads in all new printers in the SABTEX SD70 range. All we ask, is a minimum spend of £1,000 Ex VAT on SABTEX consumables every month, from authorised SABTEX distributors.
In a busy market, where DTF has become the go-to format for small businesses producing personalised clothing, any guaranteed reduction in overheads is going to make a difference in the short term. We think it could be a BIG difference, for DTF businesses that want to increase their profit margins in the long term…
